A concept coined back in 2004, SMMP is not a new concept to event leaders. It is a systematic way to manage an organization’s events, planning processes, preferred suppliers and meeting data, and the widespread adoption of SMMP throughout the corporate world has kept it top of mind for global event leads as many continue to navigate the challenge of shifting to an effective SMMP more than 20 years later.
According to CWT, 80% of companies value SMM as high priority to meet their business objectives, yet with a limited resources, siloed tasks, scattered data and incomplete processes due to a huge workload, achieving SMMP can sometimes feel like an overwhelming task.
But is it really the right direction for our event programs? What does a good SMMP look like? And is “SMMP” as a phrase even the best moniker for this system, especially if we want to get business buy-in?
Join two of our ELX members, Charlene Smith and Victoria Johnson, as they share their best practice and experience in rolling out a successful strategic meetings management program. This will be followed by an open group discussion, full of opportunities to ask all the questions you have to make sure you leave the Think Tank more confident in deploying SMMP - or whatever you decide to call it - in your own organizations.
